Guide to Writing SEO-Optimized Articles for Better Rankings
1. Choosing the Keyword:
Writing an article following SEO rules isn’t hard. The first thing you need to do is choose the keyword around which the article will revolve. If you're specializing in the sports niche, for instance, you need to find the main keyword that people are searching for or typing into Google’s search engine. You can get inspiration from social media, for example: (weight loss).
After identifying the keyword, analyze it using SEO tools:
- Google Keyword Planner: This is one of the best tools for keyword analysis. You can't ignore it if you're aiming to write SEO-compliant content. The tool allows you to see the search volume and competition for the keyword. It's better to choose a keyword with high search volume and less competition to rank for it and gain high traffic.
- Ubersuggest: This tool is precise, professional, and complete in the SEO field. It helps in searching for keywords, generating ideas, and analyzing competitors. It provides search volume, keyword importance, and whether it's worth working on or not. It also gives you information about the backlinks used on the site. However, this tool is not entirely free, offering a temporary free plan and a paid version.
- Keyword Analyzer: I recommend using GuinRank, which is one of the most powerful tools, offering professional results. It performs the same job as Ubersuggest but the paid plan allows you to write an SEO-friendly article by giving you paragraphs and synonyms to use. The Analyzer tool analyzes the keyword and gives you an indicator of how easy or difficult it is to compete for the keyword. It also provides a score for articles, among other features, which you can explore further.
Don’t forget to use at least seven synonyms for the main keyword in your article to ensure it adheres to SEO standards, with the article being around 1000 words.
Note: If you're using a Blogger blog, be sure to include the keyword in the URL. If you're using WordPress with the Yoast plugin, the link will automatically include the keyword.
2. SEO-Compliant Content:
For an article to be written according to SEO standards, it's essential to distribute the keyword systematically throughout the article. These are the best places to put your keyword:
Choosing the H1 Title:
- The title should not exceed 60 characters.
- The main keyword must be present at the beginning of the title.
- Write an engaging title that attracts visitors.
- Use numbers, for example: the title of this article you’re reading, where the number (6 steps...) encourages you to click the link.
- Use motivating words like: (Fastest Weight Loss Program, Best Way, Strongest Program, Biggest, Optimal, etc.).
- Alternatively, use these tools to generate engaging and SEO-friendly titles:
Key SEO Tools for Title Generation:
Alsoasked: This fully free tool is unmatched for generating SEO-friendly titles based on real search queries. Just enter the keyword, and it provides you with all the questions or article titles relevant to the SEO standards. Here’s an example image to illustrate:
Gemini: An AI tool developed by Google. It's professional, error-free, and highly useful for generating article titles. You can use this prompt:
"As an expert in SEO-compliant content writing, I would like you to provide me with an attractive, SEO-friendly title using the following keyword (insert your keyword)."
Introduction:
- The introduction is crucial both for the reader and Google's bots. Here are some tips:
- Don’t exceed 4 lines in the introduction.
- Place the main keyword at the beginning of the first sentence in bold.
- Use a synonym at the end of the paragraph.
- Make the introduction engaging and encouraging, as it’s the first thing a reader sees after the title.
Following these points gives you a strong start for an article that adheres to SEO rules.
Subheadings H2, H3:
- Build the subheadings based on Google's questions, ensuring that your content answers the most common user queries.
In this way, your content becomes SEO-friendly, useful, strong, and helps Google display it more prominently.
Conclusion:
- Many writers make a mistake when writing SEO-compliant articles by labeling the conclusion as a subheading. This is a mistake that needs correcting:
- Indicate the conclusion with a color or underline, not as a subheading.
- Include the main keyword at the beginning and end of the sentence in bold.
- The conclusion should not exceed 3 lines.
- It’s a simple summary of what was mentioned in the article.
3. Choosing the Meta Description:
According to Yoast SEO, which no content creator can do without, the meta description should consist of at least one sentence, and you should place the main keyword at the beginning.
Note: If you don’t write a meta description, Google’s bots will automatically choose a random snippet from your article. So it’s essential to choose the description yourself.
4. How to Find Attractive Images for Your Article:
The image is the first thing that catches the visitor's eye and motivates them to click on the SEO-friendly article link. Here are the best practices:
AI Tools:
As we're in the AI era, nothing beats AI for creating professional images in the least amount of time and at high quality. These are the best tools I use to design images in less than a second: Bing or LeonardoAI, Ideogram.
Copyright-Free Images:
Alternatively, you can use ready-made images without copyright restrictions from sites like Freepik, Unsplash, and Pixabay, then edit and add your logo using Canva.
It’s crucial to compress the image after designing it through an image compression site (such as Ilove image) to speed up your website. Additionally, always use the alt text for the image, including the keyword.
5. Using Internal Links:
Many beginner content creators overlook how to use internal links or wonder how many links to include in an article.
Here’s why they are important:
- Internal links connect your blog’s articles, enhancing internal SEO.
- They reduce bounce rates by encouraging visitors to stay on your site.
- They bring more traffic.
You should include at least two or three internal links in one article to encourage the reader to stay on your site and read another article. For example, I’m linking to a previous article here.
6. Using External Links:
If you aim to make your article SEO-compliant, external links are also crucial, as they add strength and value to your content. External links improve your site's off-page SEO. You just need to link to another article from another website or a helpful YouTube video.
Conclusion:
In this article, I’ve provided you with a comprehensive guide to writing an SEO-compliant article, detailing all the secrets and steps. Take this advice, and don’t hesitate to write your first SEO-compliant article and start ranking on search engine results.
